Lucky episode #13 takes us to New York City as Jason and Rich cover the life and career former Knicks and Nets star Micheal Ray Richardson!

We begin the episode chatting Sugar Ray with Robert Silverman (@bobsaietta) of Knickblogger, VICE, The Cauldron, Deadspin, The Daily Beast and The Classical as we discuss his impact in New York City, whether his addictions were aided by the city, his life-long link to Bernard King and much more!

The meat and potatoes of the show delves into Micheal’s upbringing in Denver, college life at the University of Montana and his eventual arrival in New York as a member of a good but not great Knicks team. Of course, no breakdown of Micheal Ray is complete without discussing his issues with addictions, his wild party life as well as his brief run in Golden State. We finish up with a look at his redemption tour as a member of the New Jersey Nets including a stunning upset of the defending champion Philadelphia 76ers. Most importantly though, Micheal Ray becoming the first man banned from the NBA as a result of drug use.

The show ends with a brief look at his post-NBA career, some fun Play Indexing and a preview of our upcoming show. It’s a fun one as always, so we’d love for you to give it a listen!
